About

Research that is open to everyone, and aimed at everyone.

Forall Labs is an independent, non-profit research community in AI, founded in 2026. Anyone willing to do careful work can take part, and everything we produce is published so anyone can check it.

Our purpose

Doing good AI research without a large institution behind you is unreasonably hard. Compute, funding, mentorship and an audience for the work all tend to come with an affiliation. At the same time, much of the field's most consequential research happens inside organisations that owe the public no account of how it was done.

Forall Labs answers both problems at once. It is open to anyone who wants to do the work, and the work is published so anyone can verify it, reuse it and build on it.

What the name means

∀ is the mathematical symbol for “for all”: the universal quantifier, the claim that something holds for every member of a set, without exception. That is the ambition in one character. Research that is open to all, and aimed at all.

How we are governed

Members propose the work and choose it together, in the open. No university, company or investor has a say in what gets studied. Our governance is written down and published as it develops, rather than left to custom.

How we are funded

Forall Labs runs on volunteered time, donated compute and research credit programmes. Nobody is paid. If that changes, we will say so here, and money will go to projects and compute before anything else. If you can help, get in touch.

How we license

Code is released under permissive open source licences. Papers, documentation and the text of this site are CC BY 4.0. Models and datasets are released openly with their provenance documented. Contributors keep authorship of their work.

Where we are

Our home base is Toronto. The community works online, and members can join from anywhere in the world.

Contact

The quickest way to reach us is the contact form. For questions about code or a paper, open an issue on GitHub. For news, follow us on LinkedIn and X.
